Kuilei Place is a planned condo development in the Moiliili area of Honolulu that was recently endorsed by board members of the Hawaii Housing Finance and Development Corporation. It will be developed by Kobayashi Group on 3.2 acres of land between 'Iolani School and Kaimuki High School, currently occupied by 141 low-rise rental apartments. This project intends to bring just over a thousand units to the area, within easy reach of the best Honolulu has to offer.

Current plans for Kuilei Place include 1,005 units contained in a 400-foot tower and 12-story residential building that fronts Kapiolani Boulevard, plus a 13-story parking structure. The parking structure also plans to include storage space for over 600 bicycles. The project is primarily intended for households with moderate to high-moderate incomes, a group that doesn't qualify for low-income housing but can't always afford market-priced housing.

About Kuilei Place

Kuilei Place is a condo project being built in the Moiliili area of Honolulu. It will consist of a 400-Foot main tower, a 12-story residential structure, and a 13-story parking structure. The main tower required special permission, as it would exceed the normal zoning height limit and become the tallest tower in the neighborhood.

Kuilei Place will contain 1,005 units. 603 of the units (60%) in the complex, comprised of 148 one-bedroom, 382 two-bedroom and 73 three-bedroom units, will be affordable units targeting households with moderate to high-moderate incomes, with 165 becoming rental apartments. The 9 live-work lofts, 96 one-bedroom, 169 two-bedroom, and 128 three-bedroom  units make up the remaining 402 market rate residences.

Location

Kuilei Place is being built in Moiliili, a neighborhood just north of Waikiki. The project lies between Kapiolani Boulevard to the north, Date Street to the west, and Mahiai Street to the East, with the 12-story residential building fronting Kapiolani Boulevard.

From Kaka'ako to Kahala, it's right in the center and on the edge of the urban core, meaning that almost all of the high rises are behind you, leaving you with incredible mauka and makai views, as well as the twinkling lights of Waikiki. It's a great location to consider if you want to be towards the Diamond Head side and away from the hustle and bustle but still in a desirable part of town.

165 of the affordably priced units will be rental apartments with monthly rent estimated to be between $1,900 and $3,000.
